A mantra is a sound you make inwardly in your mind or outwardly using your mouth. This mantra is practised while standing up but do have a chair to hand so you can sit down during the silent period, or sit down while sounding the mantra if you’d prefer.
1.Stand hip-width apart with your knees slightly bent and your arms hanging loosely at your sides.
2.Take a nice easy breath or two to let yourself settle down.
3.Begin to sound the vowel A so that it sounds like ‘Ah’, as in HAART - sounding it at first, silently in your mind as you breathe out. Do this for 3 or 4 out breaths.
4.On your next out breath make the AH sound aloud using your voice. It’s very easy going, so let the Ah come out, almost as a sigh, not pushing or forcing.
5.Continue chanting the sound AH on each out breath for around 3 minutes
6.After 3 minutes take a seat and sit in silence for a further 2 minutes.
Once silent, you might find that the sound slowly peters out and the body comes into a nice equilibrium. It can be nice to set an intention for your morning mantras. Perhaps it could be:
‘Releasing the natural energy I have, ready for a kind, bright and beautiful day!
