Emily Dickinson:

I'm Nobody! Who are you?Are you – Nobody – too?

Then there's a pair of us!

Don't tell! they'd advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!

How public – like a Frog –

To tell one's name – the livelong June –

To an admiring Bog!

Being with others can teach you about yourself

Just as we view the world through our unique eyes, and perspective, we view ourselves with that unique, partial lens also. It can be hard for human beings to know themselves objectively.

One way you can learn about your patterns an ways of being,  is by spending time with others. Through learning how we feel about another, what we like about them and what we dislike, we can illuminate the sides of our character that previously went unnoticed.  Those traits you love less in others, you’ll often find mirrored in yourself, if you look carefully enough.

What do you think? Have you experienced times where the others in your life become your mirror?
