In class last week I had the thought ‘of all the people I encounter in the street day-to-day, I have never encountered myself'. That's to say, encountered Emma Mills the person in the way other people do -- as in from the outside. It’s such an odd and interesting thing!
Somewhat alas and despite not having bumped into myself, more and more as time passes, and spontaneously so, the other people I do encounter feel so very familiar. Strangers, new people and passers-by, there is such a strong feeling of ease and familiarity with them. It’s so beautiful and surprising.
Historically I’ve not been a shy person yet I wouldn’t have described myself as typically extroverted. And so this spontaneous, seemingly ever-increasing feeling of familiarity, coupled with a deep recognition and knowing of others is such a welcome change to observe. I feel that is related to my practice.
Another unexpected pleasant surprise. They keep unfolding and happening as the years go by. Whatever next!
We are meeting tomorrow at 10 am in Southwell for our wellness class. Thank goodness it’s nice and cool up there and there will be lots of tea and fine conversation. It’s a drop in class so no need to book but if you are coming along for your first time please send me a direct message to let me know you’ll be coming.
We are also meeting in September for our new training, Presence in Practice. I hope you can join me!
